Welcome to the Nazareth Community Darkroom

The building of the Arts Center was home to the Nazareth Borough Police Department from the early 1980's through the 2000's. Our community darkroom is in the space where the original police photography "lab" once was used to process/print mug shots and evidence photos. During the construction of our community darkroom, a lot of evidence (pun intended) of the original photo lab was found, including some very old chemicals, interoffice memos, & fingerprinting supplies. The police photography lab sat dormant for at least 20 years before development of the community darkroom began, and the only part of the original lab reused was the darkroom sink. Our volunteers designed and converted the space into a functional darkroom, which will serve and inspire the community for years to come.
This slideshow gallery highlights the incredible transformation this space has experienced.
