"Views of the Valley :
A Plein Air Experience "
Hosted by Lehigh Art Alliance and now on display at Nazareth Center for the Arts.
The exhibit features scenes of the Lehigh Valley captured by local artists.
What does Plein Air mean?
"Plein air painting" is the act of painting outdoors on location, rather than inside a studio. Derived from the French term en plein air (meaning "in the open air"), it focuses on capturing the natural light, atmosphere, and true-to-life colors of a specific environment in real-time.
Quick Execution: Because the sun moves and weather changes rapidly, plein air paintings are usually finished in one sitting—a technique known as alla prima (or "at first attempt")
